Technology Creating Independence

The Medina County Board of Developmental Disabilities (MCBDD), in partnership with the Summit County DD Board and We Thrive Together, held their annual Interactive Tech Expo on September 25 at Summit Mall. This free expo was designed to showcase to the public the newest technologies available to empower, inspire and support inclusion and independence for a wide range of people with disabilities and limited mobility.
The event brought together innovators, advocates, and the general public to explore the latest advancements in assistive technology which help foster and celebrate accessibility, independence and empowerment.
With over 700 attendees, the expo featured more than 45 exhibitors showcasing cutting-edge products and services designed to enhance the lives of people who may struggle with daily tasks. “The response to this year’s expo was incredible,” said Connie Jack, MCBDD Assistive Technology Specialist. “We are thrilled to provide a platform where technology meets the needs of people with disability issues and limited mobility, allowing them to discover solutions that can significantly improve their daily lives and help them find greater independence.”
Among the many booths and exhibits, attendees were able to see and experience groundbreaking technologies, including adaptive devices, communication aids, and mobility solutions. Attendees had the opportunity to test products hands-on and engage and ask questions directly with assistive technology companies and specialists
“Technology has the power to break down barriers. Events like this are vital for ensuring that everyone has access to the tools they need to thrive,” stated Ms. Jack. “We are overwhelmed by the response to this year’s event and are looking forward to being able to offer it again next year.”
