DD Dialogues Event Tackles Disabilities Issues
The Medina County Board of Developmental Disabilities (MCBDD) convened community leaders and elected officials on Monday, march 16 for a “DD Dialogues” roundtable at the Medina County Achievement Center, focusing on critical issues impacting individuals with developmental disabilities and their families.
The event brought together state and local officials and agency leaders to discuss ongoing challenges and identify opportunities to strengthen support systems across Medina County.
MCBDD hosted the roundtable to underscore the importance of maintaining critical funding and resources for Ohio’s developmental disabilities system. Superintendent Stacey Maleckar opened the event with welcoming remarks, followed by introductions that included State Senator Mark Romanchuk (R-22) and State Representative Melanie Miller (R-67).
The discussion created space for meaningful, direct engagement between policymakers and those working within the developmental disabilities community. Participants explored key topics such as sustainable funding, policy priorities, access to community-based services, and strategies to promote inclusion and independence.
“We are grateful for the opportunity to foster open dialogue with our elected officials,” said Superintendent Stacey Maleckar. “Their leadership and support are essential to ensuring individuals with developmental disabilities have access to the resources and opportunities they need to thrive.”
The DD Dialogues event is part of MCBDD’s ongoing efforts to elevate community voices and advocate for policies that enhance quality of life for people with developmental disabilities throughout the region.
