2023 Donor Scholarship Awarded

At its May 22, 2023 meeting, the Medina County Board of Developmental Disabilities (MCBDD) announced the name of this year’s recipient of the MCBDD Donor Scholarship. The scholarship, which is awarded by the Medina County Board of Developmental Disabilities Donated Funds Committee, was founded to support young persons who are pursuing a career which serves individuals with developmental disabilities. This year’s recipient has already shown a dedication to touching the lives of individuals with disabilities, and the MCBDD is proud to recognize the contributions of her outstanding service.

The 2023 MCBDD Donor Scholarship recipient is Jenna Shubrowsky ($1500 Donor Scholarship)

Jenna graduated from Medina High School this spring and has already spent time dedicated to helping individuals with developmental disabilities. She has devoted much of her time to hands-on endeavors. She has been an assistant coach for the Special Olympics Volleyball Team since 2022. She is incredibly supportive of the team members and was proud to see them become State Champions during her first year. Jenna is also involved in her school community. In addition to service in a variety of school activities, Jenna is a member of the Hope Squad, a peer suicide prevention organization. In spring 2023, she partnered with a Hope Squad advisor to modify club and special event activities for her classmates with developmental disabilities. On top of her tremendous efforts within her community, Jenna works at both LLA Therapy and ABA Clinic. In her free time, she volunteers at Helping Hands Preschool. “It’s easy to see by the activities Jenna is involved in, not only her ability to lead and teach others, but also her patience and her deep commitment to helping,” stated one of her recommenders in a reference letter.

In the fall, Jenna will be attending Walsh University in Canton, where she will study to become an Intervention Specialist. She plans to attain moderate/intensive licensure, with a goal of one day providing services to students from preschool age to high school age.

The Donated Funds Committee and the entire MCBDD administration and staff would like to congratulate this outstanding student and wish her the best in her future endeavors.
