Helping Local Non-Profits Through AmazonSmile
AmazonSmile is a simple way for anyone to support their favorite charitable organization every time they shop on Amazon. When someone shops through AmazonSmile they are able to donate 0.5% of eligible purchases to a charitable organization of their choice – no fees, no extra costs. The MCBDD purchases items through Amazon throughout the year. Each year the MCBDD picks at random a local non-profit to be designated the recipient of MCBDD donations through the AmazonSmile program.
How Does It Work?
Interested non-profits must help people with developmental disabilities in Medina County. A non-profit must register with AmazonSmile through the Amazon website and meet its criteria.
Once registered (and before December 1 of each year), the non-profit must complete the form below which will notify the MCBDD that they are interested in being a recipient for the following year’s funds. Forms may be filled out at any time during the year, but only those received before December 1, will be considered for the following year’s donation.
During December of each year, the MCBDD will at random choose a non-profit from the verified forms and designate it to receive the MCBDD AmazonSmile funds for the next year only. Non-profits will only be eligible to receive funds once in a five-year period, unless no other non-profits are available to select.
NOTE: Because the MCBDD will be starting this option as of July 1, 2021, we will be taking non-profit interest forms for the donation for the remaining six months of 2021 (July 1, 2021 through December 31, 2021). The deadline for interest forms for this period will be June 30, 2021. Any non-profits not chosen for this period will be retained for inclusion in the December 2021 random drawn for the 2022 donation.
The MCBDD cannot guarantee nor predict the total amount of funds which a non-profit may receive within the year and has no responsibility in the administration of the AmazonSmile program and release of funds to a non-profit. AmazonSmile funds are distributed by Amazon on a quarterly basis. The MCBDD is not responsible for issuing any funds.
