About Us

Who We Are

We are the Medina County Board of Developmental Disabilities. You may also know us as the Achievement Center or Windfall School, however we are best known for the excellent services we provide nearly 1100 adults and children in Medina County with mental retardation or developmental disabilities. Services like early intervention, school age programs, physical, occupational and speech therapies, vocational training and even programming for senior citizens are available. Much of what we do goes beyond the walls of our facilities, we encourage individuals to live, learn, work, contribute and socialize in their own communities.

All of our operations are overseen by a seven member, volunteer Board. Appointed by the County Commissioners or Probate Judge, at least three of our Board Members must be an immediate relative of an individual that we serve.

The Medina County Board of Developmental Disabilities is funded by county levies, state subsidies and federal funds. Since local taxes make up nearly 83 percent of our budget, we owe much of our success to the citizens of Medina County.
